  • American shoppers are expected to spend $2.8 billion on Halloween costumes in 2014.
  • Do you have a sweet tooth? Americans are expected to spend $2.08 billion on Halloween candy.
  • Americans will be getting their spookiness by spending $1.96 billion on Halloween decorations.
  • Pet costumes are expected to reach $330 million.
  • There's a whole lot of greeting with Americans spending $360 million on Halloween greeting cards.

Here's how Americans are celebrating on Halloween

  • Almost 1 in 2 adults will dress up
  • 4 in 5 (18 to 24 year olds) will dress in costume.
  • 1 in 5 will make their own costume
  • 7 in 10 will give out candy.
  • 4 in 10 will carve a pumpkin.
  • 1 in 5 will go to a haunted house.
  • 1 in 3 will trick-or-treat with kids.
  • 1 in 7 will dress their pets
